They took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wesleyan Christian Academy. The matchup was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Oak Grove was outscored by Wesleyan Christian Academy in the second.
Despite the defeat, Oak Grove saw an underclassman step up: Emma Hadley scored seven points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Ray, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sara Kate Carr led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Carr has scored at least 25% of Wesleyan Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Blythe Cunningham, who scored ten points.
Oak Grove's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Wesleyan Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Oak Grove and Southwest Guilford will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Southwest Guilford is on a three-game streak of home wins, Oak Grove a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Wesleyan Christian Academy and High Point Christian Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. High Point Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.5 points per game.
