Olympus has gone 8-2 against Highland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Olympus Titans will take on the Highland Rams at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Olympus is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against West on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Olympus had to suffer through a 84-46 loss at the hands of West. The Titans have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Olympus saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Joss Baker, who went 7 of 11 en route to 20 points and eight boards, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 43.5% of Olympus' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cammie Bontempo, who put up 12 points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Olympus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Highland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by West 83-22. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-1.
Vada Foster was Highland's leading scorer, having posted six points. Margaret Hartle held things down on the boards with three rebounds. Katinia Olevao took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Olympus' defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Olympus has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 20.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Olympus against Highland in their previous meeting on January 7th, as the team secured a 62-28 victory. In that game, Olympus amassed a halftime lead of 36-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
