The Palmer Trinity Falcons fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 66-63. Palmer Trinity's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Palmer Trinity still got an impressive performance from Graham Yanowitch, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Yanowitch has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Harrison Miles, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Palmer Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Archbishop Carroll only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Archbishop Carroll's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luka Vlahovic, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. Diego Astudillo was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Palmer Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Archbishop Carroll, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer Trinity will challenge Pine Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Pine Crest is ranked 449th, while Palmer Trinity is ranked 425th). As for Archbishop Carroll, they will head out on the road to square off against iMater Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
