The El Rancho Dons 's's road trip will continue as they head out to face the El Toro Chargers at 3:00 p.m. on December 4th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, El Rancho came up short against Montebello and fell 51-43.
Despite the defeat, El Rancho got a solid performance out of Justin Perez, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Morones, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, El Toro pushed their score all the way to 60 last Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-60 to Huntington Beach. While losing is never fun, El Toro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 821st, while Huntington Beach is ranked 340th).
Despite their loss, El Toro saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chris Marin, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Marin scored a full 35% of El Toro's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Jimenez, who scored 17 points.
The losses dropped El Rancho to 1-5 and Montebello to 4-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's contest: El Rancho have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.2 threes per game. However, it's not like El Toro struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
