Ponaganset was sadly handed a loss on Wednesday, but Mattea Mello did her best to prevent it. Mello was dynamite, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
