Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Wasco Tigers walked away with it. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 42-41 victory over the Broncos. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Noah Lopez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 189 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Lopez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Michael Dominguez also helped out as he racked up 126 rushing yards.
Several Broncos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Powell, who rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns. Powell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Boden St. marie had a good game as well, finishing with 275 passing yards and two touchdowns in total.
Wasco is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Bishop Union, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.
Wasco will head out on the road to face off against Cerritos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Cerritos sitting on six straight wins and Wasco on three. Bishop Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
