Softball Recap: Big Sandy Takes a Loss

Big Sandy managed to slip by West Hardin the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Big Sandy Wildcats lost 17-10 to the West Hardin Oilers on Friday. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Oilers earlier this season, when they won 15-14.

Skyler Wick made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Jaycie Blankenbaker also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Wick wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Big Sandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Big Sandy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. West Hardin's record is now 5-10.

When Big Sandy and West Hardin next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Big Sandy will try to stop Danbury's three-game winning streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, West Hardin will face off against Deweyville and their four-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
