Basketball Recap: Emma Wallace's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Burns over Crest

If Burns was riding high fresh off their 48-22 takedown of Highland Tech last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Burns Bulldogs fell 58-45 to the Crest Chargers on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Burns' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Wallace, who posted 16 points and four steals. Wallace is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Greene, who had 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Crest had a senior duo take command as De'Kaylia Davis posted 15 points and Zaira Faulkner put up 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Faulkner has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Corynn Logan, who had six points.

Burns' loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Crest, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hendersonville the next time they take the court. Burns will host Hendersonville at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while Crest will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
