The Morgan Township Cherokees waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Tri-Township 74-37 at home. Given Morgan Township's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while Tri-Township is ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morgan Township had a senior duo take command as Jaiden Spratley scored 13 points along with two steals and Jack Wheeler scored 15 points along with three steals. Spratley hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Keagen Holder, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Tri-Township still got an impressive performance from Blain Rust, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Dillon Stewart was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Morgan Township pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Tri-Township, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Morgan Township will look to defend their home court on Friday against Kouts at 7:00 p.m. Kouts knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Morgan Township likes a good challenge. As for Tri-Township, they will head out on the road to square off against West Central at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri-Township is facing West Central at the right time seeing as West Central is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
