Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Spartans will head out to take on the Titans at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glenbrook North can't be too worried about heading out to take on Glenbrook South: they just beat Hersey at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Huskies on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since April 24th.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Glenbrook South). Everything went their way against Lake Forest on Saturday as they made off with an 11-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Scouts: they've now won four in a row.
Brady Ondrula looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on James Dooman, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Nottage, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Glenbrook South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Forest struck out eight times.
Glenbrook North is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Glenbrook South, their record is now 12-16.
Glenbrook North skirted past Glenbrook South 5-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
