Harlan County extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 8 this week by beating Perry County Central, 55-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Whitley County took down Letcher County Central 55-19 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Commodores' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Pray threw for 61 and one touchdown and Tyler Fugate had 26 yards receiving. On the ground Pray chipped in 206 yards. Darryl Beatty helped Perry County Central's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
Perry County Central's Pray and Nathan Pray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pray has thrown for 1633 yards this season, while Pray, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 33 catches for 667 yards. Harlan County's Jake Middleton leads the league in rushing yards with 1670.
The Colonels led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on the Cougars.
