The Marion Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 54-29 walloping at the hands of Cole. Marion has struggled against Cole recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Marion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Breelon Allen. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Allen hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Kendra Ross was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Cole got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abigail Levings out in front who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Kamyra Childs, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Marion has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 16 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Cole, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-8.
Marion will head out on the road to face off against Nixon-Smiley at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Nixon-Smiley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Cole, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Luling at 6:15 p.m. Luling is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
