Biddeford is 9-1 against South Portland since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Red Riots at 4:30 p.m. Biddeford will be strutting in after a win while South Portland will be coming in after a loss.

Biddeford let Thornton Academy stack five runs on them in the fifth inning on Wednesday but luckily Biddeford prevailed anyway. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Trojans 9-8. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

Mariah Villandry and Ayla Lagasse did most of the damage at the plate: Villandry went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Lagasse went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Lauren Small was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Biddeford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, South Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windham.

Sadie Soucy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Annalise Soucy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Biddeford's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for South Portland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Biddeford was able to grind out a solid win over South Portland when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 10-5. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Red Riots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
