It was a good run, but  the Lafayette Central Catholic Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their  six-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory  and fell  41-40 to Peru. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Lafayette Central Catholic came into the  match with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings  (they are ranked 95th, while Peru is ranked 224th).
 Despite the loss, Lafayette Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from   Albert Schwartz, who  dropped  a double-double on 11 points and 11  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Ray Clayton, who  scored seven points along with five  rebounds.
 Peru was led to victory by  Matthew Roettger and  Gavin Eldridge.  Roettger  scored 12 points along with seven  rebounds and four  steals, while  Eldridge  scored 11 points along with five  assists and three  steals. Roettger is absolutely dominating the  steal category: he's  posted at least two every time he's  taken the court this season.  Xavier Turner was another key contributor,  scoring six points along with seven  rebounds.
 Lafayette Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Peru, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
 Lafayette Central Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next  matchup is against Lafayette Jefferson at 7:30  p.m.  on January 20th. Lafayette Jefferson is on a six-game streak of home wins, Lafayette Central Catholic a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Peru won't have much time to rest: their next  game is against Northwestern at 7:45  p.m.  on January 20th. Northwestern is coming into the  matchup on a three-game losing streak.
