The Basic Wolves will face off against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Basic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Foothill, who was ranked 14th at the time (Basic was ranked third). The Wolves won by a run and slipped past the Falcons 4-3. The victory was nothing new for the Wolves as they're now sitting on five straight.

Lincoln Evans tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Andruw Giles, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallon Cegavske, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
Basic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foothill struck out 15 times.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Faith Lutheran walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 5-4 on Wednesday.
Austin Herterick looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Rookie Shepard was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kingston Kela, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.
Faith Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Basic, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Basic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Faith Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Basic got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February against Faith Lutheran by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
