Baseball Game Preview: Paul W. Bryant Stampede vs. Central Falcons

For the first time this season, Paul W. Bryant will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to square off against the Central Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Paul W. Bryant, who comes in off a win.

Paul W. Bryant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Huffman with a sharp 21-3 win on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Karson Rogers made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javion Johnson, who scored four runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Kellen Shivetts was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Paul W. Bryant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .732. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Central didn't have quite enough to beat Tuscaloosa Academy on Thursday and fell 4-3.

Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. Paul W. Bryant's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.

Paul W. Bryant suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Central when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Paul W. Bryant avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
