Even though the Northgate Broncos scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, the Benicia Panthers still came out on top. Benicia took their game against Northgate 67-60. That's another feather in the cap for Benicia, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Benicia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Earl led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Earl scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Barron, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was David Harris, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Grayson Boustead, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Benicia's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 18-9. As for Northgate, their loss dropped their record down to 18-10.
Benicia will take on Ygnacio Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Averaging 68.22 points so far this season, Ygnacio Valley's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Benicia better be ready for a challenge. Northgate does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
