Journey Moore made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in June of 2024.
In other batting news, Hayden Lawless was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hubbard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Floyd County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Radford 17-5 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Like Patrick County, Floyd County also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Biesterveld. She struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Biesterveld was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Allen, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lilly Gillispie, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Floyd County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matchups.
Patrick County's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Floyd County, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Patrick County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Floyd County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Patrick County beat Floyd County 15-11 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Buffaloes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
