Tyler Mascio and Ilo Noble provided fans with a highlight when they connected against St. Francis. The connection went for 62 yards, the longest such play in Monsignor Martin this season.
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute moved up to 8 from 35 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 27-14 win over Aquinas Institute helped the Marauders improve their standing.
Denzel Benton was the best wideout in the league this week as Canisius defeated the Red Raiders. Benton racked up two receptions for 92 yards. Anthony Kellerman helped Canisius' passing attack out by catching three balls for 37 yards.
Qadree Ollison was the most productive running back in Monsignor Martin this week. He ran for 251 yards on 25 carries as the Crusaders bested St. Francis. Solomon Renfro also contributed to the rushing game with 40 yards on the ground.
Dennis Gilbert Jr. put up the best numbers through the air as St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute bested the Little Irish. He finished with a total of 10 completions for 122 yards and three touchdowns. Gilbert Jr.'s favorite target this week was Noble, who caught three passes for 54 yards.
Canisius' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mascio has thrown for 926 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Benton has 19 catches for 370 yards. Ollison leads the league in rushing with 736 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cardinal O'Hara takes on Bishop Timon-St. Jude. At the moment, the Hawks are in sixth, while the Tigers are in third.
Dennis Gilbert's team was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Aquinas Institute 27-14. The Marauders came in at 8 in the state poll after placing at number 35 last week.
