Softball Recap: Elida Has No Trouble Against Spencerville

Elida won the last time they faced Spencerville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Bearcats 15-5. Considering the Bulldogs have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lilly Sifrit was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Ava Jackson was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Elida and bumps their season record up to 3-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Spencerville, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Elida and Spencerville will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bulldogs will face off against rival Kenton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Spencerville is set to take on their familiar foe Jefferson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
