The North Canyon Rattlers struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the South Mountain Jaguars had 13 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. North Canyon took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Mountain. North Canyon has not had much luck with South Mountain recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
North Canyon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ava Adams, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Adams is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Lanaya McCloud, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds.
South Mountain was led to victory by Bry'ann Wiley and Julia Abdelsalam. Wiley dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Abdelsalam dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Abdelsalam has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Martin, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
North Canyon's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7. As for South Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Canyon will take on Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Wednesday. As for South Mountain, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Linda at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Sierra Linda focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Monday.
