The Mineral Ridge Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Western Reserve Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mineral Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Mineral Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Springfield with a sharp 15-1 victory. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Sullivan Sandy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Gerberry, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mineral Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive contests.
Western Reserve couldn't beat Jackson-Milton on Wednesday even though they stacked eight runs on them in the fourth inning. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 11-10. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Bluejays recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Harper Darney made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Chloeigh Endsley, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mineral Ridge pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Western Reserve, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mineral Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Western Reserve struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mineral Ridge got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Western Reserve by a conclusive 20-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
