Sadly, the Poetry Community Christian Pioneer are still looking for their first win of the season after ten contests. They were outmatched by First Baptist at home and fell 78-3. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poetry Community Christian in their matchups with First Baptist: they've now lost four in a row.
First Baptist was led to victory by Meredith Quinn and Emily Kate Jones. Quinn scored 31 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Jones dropped a double-double on 35 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of First Baptist's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolbie Gillispie, who scored seven points along with six assists.
Poetry Community Christian dropped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for First Baptist, the win (which was their 20th in a row) raised their record to 25-3.
Poetry Community Christian will head out on the road to square off against Heritage Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Poetry Community Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for First Baptist, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity School of Texas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 621 points over their last nine games.
