On Friday, The Blue Valley West Jaguars faced the Blue Valley Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Blue Valley West took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blue Valley. Blue Valley West gained 178 more yards on the day, but it was Blue Valley that made the best of use of them.
Blue Valley West's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Tate Nagy, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, and Crew Myers who picked up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Among those leading the charge was John Price, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Blue Valley's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Dawson Merritt and his two sacks.
Blue Valley West now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Blue Valley, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Valley West will take on Shawnee Mission North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Shawnee Mission North will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Blue Valley West is ranked 20th). As for Blue Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Olathe West at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Olathe West is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
