The Village Mountaineers will head out to take on the Elizabeth Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Village is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Alameda: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Village blew Alameda out of the water with a 61-22 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Mountaineers had established a 33 point advantage.

Carter Sterk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8-for-14 en route to 20 points along with eight steals and five assists. The game was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was James Driggers, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 17 points and five rebounds.
Village smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Elizabeth, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 61-37 margin over Sierra on Monday. The score was close at the half, but the Cardinals pulled away in the second half with 38 points.
Elizabeth found their leader in sophomore Cohen Steinke, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Steinke is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games he's played. Bryan Jeffs was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 12 points and six assists.
The win got Village back to even at 9-9. As for Elizabeth, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's contest: Village has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 35.9% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Elizabeth, though, as they've only made 22.6% of their three-pointers this season. Given Village's sizable advantage in that area, Elizabeth will need to find a way to close that gap.
