The Marshall Barristers and the Verdugo Hills Dons squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Marshall Barristers had to settle for second. Marshall was beaten by Verdugo Hills 42-0. Having soared to a lofty 50 points in the game before, Marshall couldn't push the score so high this time.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Verdugo Hills, racking up 12 points in total. All those points came courtesy of Luis Rodriguez: he added nine points with three field goals, and another three kicking extra points.
Marshall's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 4.0 points per game. As for Verdugo Hills, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-5.
Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Verdugo Hills will face off against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jordan is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
