The Southern Choctaw Indians had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They managed a 33-28 win over Marengo. This was a revenge match for Southern Choctaw, as the team was forced to settle for a 36-26 defeat when these two played two weeks ago.
Marcionna Young continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with three steals. Young is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Keri Mcgee was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Southern Choctaw's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Marengo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Choctaw and Choctaw County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Choctaw County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday. As for Marengo, they will head out on the road to take on Sweet Water at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Sweet Water is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
