The Sulphur Golden Tors fell victim to the Destrehan Wildcats''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 45-0 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. Sulphur's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it five in a row.
Addison Constance threw for 107 yards on ten of 23 attempts. John David LaFleur was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Sulphur's defeat was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Carencro and 11-2 Southside (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 89.9% over those games). As for Destrehan, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Sulphur will head out on the road to face off against New Iberia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (New Iberia is ranked 129th, while Sulphur is ranked 106th). As for Destrehan, they will stay at home for another week and welcome East St. John at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th.
