Basketball Game Preview: Peak to Peak Pumas vs. The Academy Wildcats

Peak to Peak is 6-0 against The Academy since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Peak to Peak Pumas will face off against The Academy Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, everything went Peak to Peak's way against Forge Christian as Peak to Peak made off with a 54-31 victory. The Pumas have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Alexandra Eschmeyer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 38 points and 13 rebounds. Her evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Hirt, who posted six points and three steals.

Peak to Peak was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for The Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They managed a 32-28 win over Prospect Ridge Academy on Friday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Peak to Peak has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.3 points. As for The Academy, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-11.

Everything came up roses for Peak to Peak against The Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-23 victory. In that match, Peak to Peak amassed a halftime lead of 38-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
