The Maple Shade Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Haddon Township Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Maple Shade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Maple Shade can't be too worried about heading out to take on Haddon Township: they just beat Medford Tech at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 10-2 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Madeline Sylvia, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Rev? Robinson, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Haddon Township came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Silver Knights, sneaking past 5-3.
Jordan Strauss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mikayla Callahan and Jamie Kozarski did most of the damage at the plate: Callahan went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Kozarski went 3-for-4 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Karsyn McCoy, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Maple Shade's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Haddon Township, their record now sits at 13-6-1.
Both Maple Shade and Haddon Township just can't seem to miss. The Wildcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Haddon Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maple Shade came up short against Haddon Township when the teams last played back in May of 2023, falling 4-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
