The Wakulla Christian School Saints will face off against the Maclay Marauders at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Wakulla Christian School is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, Wakulla Christian School made easy work of Rutherford and carried off a 15-1 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Eme Guyer and Teegen Gilley did most of the damage at the plate: Guyer went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Gilley went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Gilley has posted since back in February. Alexah Brown was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Maclay came up short against Godby last Wednesday, falling 15-4. The game marked the Marauders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Maclay saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Herzog, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Herzog's first of the season. Another was Annelise Evers, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Wakulla Christian School's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Maclay, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Maclay's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Wakulla Christian School has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Maclay, though, as they've been averaging 14.2 hits. Given Wakulla Christian School's sizable advantage in that area, the Marauders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Wakulla Christian School got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in February against Maclay by a conclusive 31-13 score. Do the Saints have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marauders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
