Northside has gone a perfect 5-0 against Steinmetz College Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mustangs will take on the Silver Streaks at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Northside made easy work of Northridge and carried off a 13-7 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Rowan Yen made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Northside's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't). Yen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, Northside let Tyler Weigand and John Piper run wild. Weigand went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Piper went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Weigand has posted since April 4th. Rowan Dragovic also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Northside lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Steinmetz College Prep). They came out on top against Chicago Academy by a score of 19-14 on Monday. The win was some much needed relief for the Silver Streaks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Juan Pablo Jaramillo was a standout: he fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4. Another player making a difference was Elias Flores, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Steinmetz College Prep's record now sits at 5-14. As for Northside, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .464. However, it's not like Steinmetz College Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Northside's way against Steinmetz College Prep in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Northside made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
