The Carver Tigers put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Shaw 55-53. Given Carver's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Shaw is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashton Thomas, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Thomas scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Champ Simpson, who scored 16 points.
Carver's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Shaw, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Carver and Spencer will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Spencer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Carver likes a good challenge. Shaw and Hardaway will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
