Hondo and Lytle are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Owls will head out to challenge the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hondo comes in on four and Lytle on 11.
Hondo can't be too worried about heading out to take on Lytle: they just beat Crystal City at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Owls never let the Javelinas get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Friday.

Mason Barr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Josiah Quintanilla, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lytle made easy work of Dilley on Friday and carried off an 11-0 victory. Considering the Pirates have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Devin Cordova made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cordova was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Lytle let Toby Davila and Weston Jackson run wild. Davila got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Jackson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Lytle is 16-1 when Davila posts two or more runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Hill, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double.
Lytle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dilley only posted an OBP of .348.
Hondo's record now sits at 19-6-2. As for Lytle, their record is now 20-6-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hondo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Lytle struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hondo might still be hurting after the 15-6 loss they got from Lytle in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
