Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Edwardsville walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Quincy Blue Devils on Thursday. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ariana Fusaro paced Edwardsville's offense, picking up nine kills. Fusaro got some help from Lucy Malawy and her 16 assists. Madelyn Ohlau controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avary Hlubek, who had 11 digs and two aces. Kennedy Geiselman was another key player, getting nine digs and two aces.
Edwardsville's win bumped their record up to 25-11. As for Quincy, their defeat dropped their record down to 29-7.
Coming up, Edwardsville will challenge Belleville East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Quincy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
