The Lovington Wildcats's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Carlsbad Cavemen on Monday. Lovington put the hurt on the Lobos with a sharp 74-49 win. That's another feather in the cap for Lovington, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Zadrick Betancourt continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Thompson jr, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Lovington's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Chaparral, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-13.
Lovington will square off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in New Mexico (Artesia is ranked 38th, while the Wildcats are ranked 43rd). As for Chaparral, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. Hatch Valley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
