Basketball Recap: Zionsville Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Zionsville had won two straight home games and Maguire Mitchell did his part to make it three on Saturday. Everything went the Zionsville Eagles' way against the Harrison Raiders as the Zionsville Eagles made off with a 55-33 victory thanks in part to Mitchell, who shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 8.1 rebounds per game.

Another player making a difference was Jackson Tielker, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in January.

Loss or not, Harrison got some senior leadership from Ray Gibson and Malachi King. Gibson posted 11 points, while King put up 11 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Smith, who posted six points.

The win got Zionsville back to even at 4-4. As for Harrison, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

When Zionsville and Harrison next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Zionsville will try to stop Penn's three-game winning streak when the meet at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Zionsville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. Similarly, Harrison will try to stop West Lafayette's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
