The San Lorenzo Valley Cougars lost against the Aptos Mariners back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. San Lorenzo Valley was beaten by Aptos 65-38. While losing is never fun, San Lorenzo Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 767th, while Aptos is ranked 353rd).
Isaiah Ackerman was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds for Aptos. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ackerman has scored at least 25% of Aptos' points. Nick Tovani was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
San Lorenzo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Aptos, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
San Lorenzo Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Harbor at 7:00 p.m. As for Aptos, they will head out on the road to face off against Soquel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Nico Ramirez and Ackerman.
