It was a good run, but the Gardendale Rockets unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 56-42 bruising from Mountain Brook. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Gardendale still got an impressive performance from Boogie Harris iii, who rushed for 233 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Harris iii was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. Mac Beason was another key contributor, throwing for 208 yards and four touchdowns.
It was another big night for Cole Gamble, who rushed for 296 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Gamble has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clark Sanderson, who picked up 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Gardendale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Mountain Brook, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Gardendale will take on Hueytown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hueytown is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Mountain Brook, they will take on Baker at TBD on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Baker is ranked 17th, while Mountain Brook is ranked 23rd).
