After two games on the road, Brooklyn is heading back home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Holy Name Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Brooklyn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Brooklyn ended up a good deal behind Wickliffe and lost 44-29.
The losing side was boosted by Ashlyn Dyson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. She scored a full 58.6% of Brooklyn's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Nieves, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though Holy Name has not done well against Padua Franciscan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Holy Name slipped by Padua Franciscan 50-49.
Holy Name can attribute much of their success to Honesti Williams, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Williams continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Maryelise Rispoli was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Brooklyn's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.0 points per game. As for Holy Name, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Brooklyn have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 25.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Holy Name, though, as they've been averaging only 37.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
