After two games on the road, Higley is heading back home. They will take on the Casteel Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Higley has not done well against Campo Verde recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Higley came out on top in a nail-biter against Campo Verde and snuck past 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Higley has posted yet this season.
Higley relied on the efforts of Donovan Dabney, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds, and Noah Gloor, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Gloor is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Hatcher, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Casteel stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Mountain Pointe with a sharp 66-46 win. Given Casteel's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Mountain Pointe is ranked 179th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Higley's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Casteel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Higley skirted past Casteel 51-49 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Higley repeat their success, or does Casteel have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
