The Westwood Panthers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against John Carroll Catholic by a score of 54-45. For Westwood, this counts as revenge for the 44-35 defeat John Carroll Catholic walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Westwood can attribute much of their success to Colton Foster, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foster has scored all season. Marquan Burgess was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why John Carroll Catholic lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caden Johnson. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Johnson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Jefferson, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Westwood's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for John Carroll Catholic, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will take on South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Fork will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for John Carroll Catholic, John Carroll Catholic and Cocoa Beach will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Cocoa Beach's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups.
