The Concord Academy Eagles stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Hickory Grove Christian at home to the tune of 67-16. The win was familiar territory for Concord Academy who now have three in a row.
Concord Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Justice Alexander, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Alexander has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Mack, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hickory Grove Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Concord Academy racked up 15 assists.
Concord Academy pushed their record up to 12-2 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37 points. As for Hickory Grove Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will take on Westminster Catawba Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Westminster Catawba Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 279th in South Carolina, while Concord Academy is ranked 44th in North Carolina). Hickory Grove Christian will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Gaston Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Gaston Christian is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
