The Montgomery Vikings will square off against the Analy Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Montgomery will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Windsor, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Jaguars on Wednesday.
Quinn Matel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Fatima Mora, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Lily Lorenz, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Analy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Piner by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.
Analy also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Carlee Maddocks gave up only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, Ryann Brown was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Analy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
The victory got Montgomery back to even at 1-1. As for Analy, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.
Montgomery came out on top in a nail-biter against Analy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
