The Earlville Red Raiders lost against the Serena Huskers back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Earlville was dealt a 53-18 defeat at the hands of the Huskers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Earlville in their matchups with the Huskers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Earlville saw an underclassman step up: Elizabeth Vazquez scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Scherer, who scored four points.
Earlville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-19 record this season. As for Serena, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-2.
Earlville will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ashton-Franklin Center presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Raiders in Illinois (the Raiders are ranked 301st, while the Red Raiders are ranked 658th). As for Serena, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Silver Streaks at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Galesburg is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
