Basketball Recap: Sonora Beats Ozona for Their Third Straight Victory

Ozona came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Sonora, but Wyatt Killough wouldn't allow it. The Sonora Broncos enjoyed a cozy 58-41 win over the Ozona Lions on Friday thanks in part to Killough, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Ozona's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Fowler, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. Fowler has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 12 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Blanco, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The victory (which was Sonora's third in a row) raised their record to 14-13. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Ozona, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Sonora didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-48 defeat against Sterling City on the 28th. As for Ozona, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-35 loss against Eldorado on the 28th.
