The Sheridan Blackhawks will take on the Clinton Central Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheridan will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Sheridan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over Herron on Monday. With that victory, the Blackhawks brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Norah Adams made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Ali Pickard was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lainey Mendenhall, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Sheridan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Clinton Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Faith Christian on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 10-9.
Like Sheridan, Clinton Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Nuriah Harvey. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. Harvey was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carly Davison made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Clinton Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Sheridan's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6.
Both Sheridan and Clinton Central just can't seem to miss. The Blackhawks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Clinton Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sheridan might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Clinton Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024.
