The Academy Owls will head out on the road to face off against the Fisher Bunnies at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Academy's defense has only allowed 28.3 points per game this season, so Fisher's offense will have their work cut out for Fisher.
Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Urbana University with a sharp 46-25 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Academy has managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Fisher's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a serious blow against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, falling 55-22. While losing is never fun, Fisher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 381st, while Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley is ranked 101st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Paige Hott, who scored three points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fisher struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Fisher, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-6.
Academy took a serious blow against Fisher when the teams last played back in February, falling 61-27. Can Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
