Marana is 2-7 against Cienega since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Tigers will head out to challenge the Bobcats at 6:00 p.m.
Marana came into this matchup off a tough 11-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mountain View by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. The Tigers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Connor Ellis was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Marana: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Preston Robbins, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cienega duked it out with Desert View on Tuesday. The Bobcats blew past the Jaguars 13-6. Considering the Bobcats have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
ANTHONY MONTEZ was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, JAMES LINZMEYER and LUTE CHAVEZ did most of the damage at the plate: LINZMEYER went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while CHAVEZ went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave CHAVEZ a new career-high. TRISTAN CRUZ was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Cienega is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Marana, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-17.
Marana couldn't quite finish off Cienega in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 and fell 6-4. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
