The McKenzie Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Straughn Tigers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. McKenzie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Straughn apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
McKenzie's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaylen Mcmillian, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds. The matchup was Mcmillian's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jay Jackson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for McKenzie and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Straughn, their win bumped their record up to 1-4.
McKenzie is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Luverne at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. As for Straughn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Florala at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Florala presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Straughn in Alabama (Florala is ranked 112th, while Straughn is ranked 342nd).
